Tom Holland Interviewing With A Hollywood Reporter
Holland thanks Garfield for their relationship in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his new show, “The Crowded Room,” but he also acknowledges that he wishes they had discussed something particular when Holland was chosen to play Spider-Man.
Holland’s career as the renowned superhero began in 2015, when he made his screen debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War.” Since then, the British actor has played the web-slinger in six different films, including the hugely popular “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
Fans will always remember the latest web-slinger saga as the occasion when all three Spider-Men came together to face off against enemies from several alternate realities.
Maguire had already finished his own trilogy in 2007’s “Spider-Man 3,” which was the final time he wore the red suit.
The lackluster box office performance of 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” which made about $700 million worldwide, resulted in Garfield leaving the franchise, and his depiction of the character was cut short.
The actor recalls on his experience and expresses sadness over a wasted chance years later, when the trio was reuniting on film and Holland’s Spider-Man series reached new heights. According to a statement he made to The Hollywood Reporter, “I was so caught up in taking the role that I never took any time to think about what it must have been like for him,” he acknowledges not speaking with Garfield before taking on the role.
