A few days remain until Apple TV releases “The Crowded Room” starring Amanda Seyfried and the world’s newest Spider-Man, Tom Holland.
While Tom Holland has been primarily recognized for his work in the MCU, his more recent movies show his affinity for thrillers and psychological dramas, like Devil all the time and Cherry. These movies are not for the faint of heart and The Crowded Room seems to be cut from the same cloth.
Who is Danny Sullivan?
The thriller TV show focuses on Danny Sullivan (Tom Holland) who was arrested for his alleged involvement in a shooting in 1979 New York and his fight to prove his innocence.
Where Does The Crowded Room Takes Inspiration From?
This psychological drama takes inspiration from the non-fiction 1981 novel The Minds of Billy Milligan by Daniel Keyes. Milligan was a criminal with split-personality disorder. He is thought to have had at least 24 different personalities.
Milligan was responsible for armed robbery and rape of 3 women in Ohio State University. But he was later declared innocent and eventually became a landmark case due to his dissociative identity disorder.
The Crowded Room: Plot Details
The Crowded Room is a crime-adjacent, 10-part limited series. It is led by the Spider-Man actor Tom Holland as Danny Sullivan.
The trailer revolves around two sides of the story: a fictionalized version of a criminal trying to prove his innocence and an interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) who is trying to get to the bottom of his crimes.
This TV show features a series of interviews where Rya tries to learn about Danny’s mysterious past, followed by a shocking conclusion.
Honestly, this TV series is far cry from the cat and mouse chase trope we know all too well. From the looks of it, The Crowded Room could be the very thing to help Tom Holland shed his super suit and achieve his full potential as a disturbed criminal.
