Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is coming to the cinemas soon, and the movie promotions are at top speed. Recently on the Toronto promotional roll-out of Barbie, the stars of the movie walked the pink carpet at the five-floor fan experience in King Street West.
The cast of the movie also consists of two heartthrob Canadians Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, both actors playing a different version of Ken in the movie. One of the major highlights of the event has been when Simu Liu chooses Ryan Reynolds as another Canadian Ken.
Here is what exactly happened.
Simu Liu chooses Ryan Reynolds As Another Canadian Ken says “Let’s get the Ryans.”
While Simu Liu was walking down the pink carpet he was interviewed about the movie. Many journalists asked questions about the making of the movie and his role when he got an amazing question which was “If you could pick any other Canadian to play Ken, who would you pick?”. The question was so fun Simu laughed and answered “Oh, that’s a great question. Probably Ryan Reynolds,” he added “Let’s get the Ryans.”
Ryan Reynolds was also born in Vancouver and is cast opposite Margot Robbie as her Ken. Another fun question that was answered by Simu was “What the most Canadian thing is about the beloved doll’s portrayal in the movie?”, to which he responded, “I think to call Kens polite and to call them Canadian would be giving Kens too much credit”. He answered saying “The most Canadian thing about Kens is that they celebrate each other’s differences, their multiculturalism. And they’re a very accepting group of people for the most part.”
The movie will be in theaters on 21 July, the cast includes Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Emma Mackey, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Michael Cera, and more.
