Unexpected news about Marvel Studios’ plans for Season 2 of WandaVision on Disney+ was revealed by an MCU celebrity.
Even while Marvel has already given some of its Disney+ series second seasons renewals, including Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, WandaVision’s continuation beyond its initial run of episodes was never assured.
Although it has been revealed that at least one character from the show will return to the limelight soon, Elizabeth Olsen and other performers have expressed hope to return for a Season 2. This isn’t due to a lack of excitement on their part.
Update on ‘WandaVision Season 2’ from an MCU Star
Will there be a Season 2 of WandaVision? According to Debra Jo Rupp, sort of.
In an interview with Berkshire Magazine, Rupp said that Agatha: Coven of Chaos, a new Disney+ series from Marvel Studios, will serve as a follow-up to WandaVision.
When speaking about her work on Netflix’s That ’90s Show, Rupp referred to the upcoming MCU series as “the second season of Wandavision for Marvel,” likening it to American Horror Story, where each season is “a whole new kind of a thing:”
“It’s the second season of ‘Wandavision’ for Marvel. It’s very much like ‘American Horror Story,’ where each season is a whole new kind of a thing. I was shocked when they called me, because I really thought that would be it, and I was fine with that. But when they called, I got so excited because it’s a character I never get to play. She’s gonna be great fun.”
It isn’t too shocking to hear Rupp say that Agatha: Coven of Chaos will be WandaVision’s second season, but it raises the issue of if and how the show will continue in subsequent seasons.
With more than a dozen performers returning for Agatha, WandaVision has already made a strong case for how significantly it will affect everything that happens in the spin-off series.
Coven of Chaos will purportedly provide a nine-episode adventure, matching WandaVision‘s launch of the whole Phase 4 slate in January 2021. It will even match the episode count of its predecessor.
