Marvel’s Eternals releases on November 5th, and it promises to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects to date. One of the standout features of Marvel’s Eternals film is its diverse cast and different style of filming. Nothing quite like it has ever been attempted by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve put together a video compiling the best behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and b-roll that you can watch below. Here’s a list of our favorite standout moments from Marvel’s Eternals.
Marvel’s First Deaf Superhero: Makkari
Actress Lauren Ridloff becomes the first deaf superhero in the Marvel cinematic universe. Makkari is one of the Eternals who wields the power of super speed. Marvel wanted to gather their most diverse cast of characters to date, and casting Lauren Ridloff was a massive part of that vision.
When asked at Comic-Con what it meant to portray the first deaf hero in the MCU, Lauren replied in ASL, “I do have a son. And he asked me after he read Greek mythology, he was reading through that, and he’s like, ‘What does honor mean?’ This. This is what honor means. I’m so honored to be here.” She represents the deaf community in a way that hasn’t been seen in the Hollywood community. What an incredible moment.
Kumail Nanjiani is Marvel’s New Gem
The standout performance from Marvel’s Eternals goes to Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo. Kumail got jacked for this role which surprised the production team. He wanted Kingo to look like he could take on Thor or Captain America if necessary. Kingo has quickly become a fan favorite amongst Marvel fans with high hope he’ll join the Avengers in the future. Only time will tell if this wish will come true.
