Disney films will be rereleasing 8 popular films in theaters in the coming weeks as part of the company’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration. Between July 7 and October 31, there will be a 2-week re-release window for each of the eight films.
It will be the first significant theatrical re-release for some of these films. Disney used to frequently rotate its animated classics and some of its other fan favorites in and out of theaters for years before to the emergence of the home video market. Now that they are playing everything on Disney+, it’s clearly probable we could see them revert to the “Disney Vault” model on some titles in order to create artificial scarcity.
Disney Big Launches From July 7
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl will debut on July 7. The films Toy Story, The Lion King, and Moana will come after that. It would not be shocking to learn that Disney has plans for additional titles beginning in October and continuing through the rest of the year as all of the titles were published in the 1990s and beyond.
It’s certainly feasible that any of these films may outperform their 2023 rivals at the box office, given the weak box office this year. For example, it would be sort of bizarre to see Toy Story or The Incredibles debut at #1 or #2 on the box office later this summer.
Platinum Styled Series Hint
Disney100 4K UHD steelbooks and Blu-ray slipcovers will be available in a new platinum-style series, according to a recent announcement from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. The Disney100 variant4K steel books and Blu-ray slipcovers are a component of the Platinum Celebration Collection. This collection also includes a platinum version of the iconic Mickey Mouse ear hat, a number of Disney “What If” comic book version covers which honors iconic moments.
