Before they walked across the street to attend the Avengers: Age of Ultron world premiere at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, the actors who play the Marvel superheroes—Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk)—appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday.
The episode started with game of telephone—you know, the elementary school game? Host Jimmy Kimmel whispered “The Avengers are on the show tonight” into Evans’ ear. Nearly all the actors giggled as they relayed the “simple” message, with Johansson joking, “Oh, gosh! I don’t want to say that!” When Renner blew air into her ear, she squirmed in her seat. “Ugh!” she said in mock disgust.
By the time the telephone line reached Downey, the message was lost in translation. “The diaphragm jelly is in my glove box,” he said.
Mmm. Not quite.
Kimmel divided the actors into two teams, The Americans (Evans, Renner and Ruffalo) and The Mans (Downey, Hemsworth and Johansson), to play a condensed version of Family Feud. The categories were themed, natch: “Something You Do in a Movie Theater Besides Watching a Movie,” “Besides Superhero, Name a Profession That Requires You to Wear Tights” and “The Worst Place to Turn Into The Hulk.”
We won’t spoil the fun by revealing it here—you’ll have to watch!
