Squid Game is the most-watched series on Netflix by a mile. The next closest show is roughly 30 million views behind Squid Game. Needless to say, Squid Game is a world sensation. In true capitalistic fashion, Netflix wants to capitalize on the success and begin production of Squid Game season 2. Here are all the rumors and theories swirling around Squid Game season 2.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk is Considering a Second Season
Initially, Hwang Dong-hyuk rejected any ideas of continuing his Squid Game series. After some time passed, the story from the Squid Game director began to change. He’s now giving us story arcs he would flesh out in a second season. In addition to these story arcs, he wants to use a team of writers, so the second season doesn’t take a decade to write.
The Origin of the Front Man
Despite Squid Game’s eerie tone, the show is full of vibrant colors and gaudy costumes, and the Front Man’s aesthetic is no exception. Dawning a geometric amalgamation on his face, the Front Man is arguably one of the greatest mysteries of Squid Game. Avid fans wonder how he got his position and why he would want to carry out such a filthy position. Especially when the Front Man is in charge of entertaining the VIPs.
How the Squid Games Started
The second potential story arc of Squid Game season 2 is the origin of the Squid Games. During the first season, Oh Il-nam aka the old man explains his reasoning behind the Squid Games. Yet, we’re left with a ton of questions. Where are the Squid Games? Who funds the Squid Games? How are the PlayStation soldiers found and hired? These questions could be answered in the second season of Squid Game.
Gi-Hun Rejoins the Death Games
At the end of the first season, Gi-Hun turns around from his plane ride and decides to take on the Front Man and the Squid Games. The next season may be about his efforts to take down the games. He can do this by re-entering the games or by infiltrating the organization’s ranks. There are many theories, but I look forward to seeing our pink-haired hero back in action.
