New Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set images reveal that Okoye and Shuri will be engaged in an action scene while visiting MIT. Principal photography for the Ryan Coogler-directed film continues. While production is primarily based in Atlanta, location filming has recently taken place in Cambridge, MA. With some of the cast shooting exterior scenes, new photos from the movie have made their way online, among the latest includes a look at Okoye and Shuri in what appears to be a car chase.
Initially, it was uncertain how Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would pan out on the heels of Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death. But after careful consideration that included the script being reshaped to honor T’Challa and the beloved actor who brought him to life, Marvel Studios moved forward. With Coogler leading an almost intact cast from the original movie, there are high hopes that they will be able to come up with an equally acclaimed follow-up to Black Panther while also giving the Wakandan King the send-off he deserves.
Plot details are still being tightly guarded as of the moment, but set images have given an idea of what to expect from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Just Jared acquired some images of Okoye and Shuri stunt doubles (as both were wearing the same outfit Danai Gurira and Letitia Wright were initially spotted wearing) filming what appears to be a car chase scene. The Wakandan Princess rides a motorcycle, while the Dora Milaje general was riding in a car.
Okoye and Shuri are in Cambridge, Ma. to visit MIT as revealed by previously revealed images for the movie. This trip has something to do with the upcoming debut of Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne); the character has been confirmed to debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever first before starring in her own Disney+ show, Ironheart. Separate photos have revealed the If Beale Street Could Talk actress also shooting some of her scenes on the campus. It’s currently uncertain how exactly the Wakandans connect to her, but it’s possible that it’s all part of the outreach program that T’Challa started in the original movie.
What’s interesting here is that what seems to be just a normal campus visit leads into an action sequence. It’s difficult to gauge what’s exactly going on here since there’s no context to these images, but whoever Okoye and Shuri are in a car chase with could either be a villain for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever or a set-up for Ironheart. This somehow echoes the same vibe as the Busan set piece in Black Panther where both joined Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and T’Challa’s attempt to catch Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis). It’ll be intriguing to see, however, if Riri shows up wearing her Iron Man suit.
