Anthony Mackie Shares His Desire to be Black Panther
Mackie shares about his Marvel Journey in an interview with Inverse, the actor tells how he aimed for Marvel after he made his name in Hollywood in early 2010.
The actor said “I had been contacting Marvel a lot about Black Panther,” he added “I had written them letters. I was trying to find a way to make them make Black Panther. And I wanted to be Black Panther because growing up I fucking loved Black Panther.”
Later, Anthony got the chance to meet up with longtime Marvel producer Nate Moore, not only him but Anthony also meet Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, who eventually end up being the directors for 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which was Mackie’s first ever MCU project. Joe really liked Mackie and asked him to work with them but did not tell him the character.
Anthony Mackie responded to Joe saying, ‘You know what, I like y’all dudes. I’ll do it. I’ll go on this ride with you.’”
Anthony showed his interest in the Black Panther character, but he ended up as Captain America’s top ally, Sam Wilson, aka Falcon. Anthony is currently shooting in Atlanta for Marvel’s upcoming movie Captain America: Brave New World, this is the fourth part of the series.
